Gear Wash participates in Warranty Repair programs offered by various Protective Fabric manufacturers, Structural Turnout manufacturers and other PPE manufactures.

The following table provides an overview of the various programs for Fire Fighter Turnout equipment.

Overview:

Each manufacturer has a program that covers failure in workmanship and materials within a specific time frame of typically 3 to 5 years. Some manufacturers have extended the warranties up to 7 when a full NFPA 1851 program is implemented and all equipment is serviced beginning year one.

The manufacturers will cover failure of materials and normal wear within the defined warranty periods.
Overview:

The new Fabric Warranties that became effective for equipment manufactured after September 2012 will potentially provide a significant savings to fire departments. Holes, tears and abrasion repair are included under the warranties.

In general, programs may include:

  • Defects in workmanship and materials
  • Stitching
  • Velcro Replacement
  • Hardware Replacement
  • Failed Component Replacement

Labor: Varies by manufacturer and product
Materials: Yes

In general, programs may include:

  • Defects in materials
  • Hydrostatic testing failures within warranty period

  • Defects in materials
  • Tears and holes
  • Repairs of approved fabric reinforcement of pockets and knees


What is excluded

In general, programs may exclude:

  • Damage to high wear areas, e.g. trouser cuffs and pockets
  • Equipment abuse
  • Damage from use in training
  • Catastrophic incidents
  • Use of equipment in environment that it was not intended
  • Damage due to improper cleaning, e.g. , dry cleaning
  • Ultraviolet Light damage
  • Damage due to use of cleaning solutions that do not meet NFPA 1851 requirements

  • Catastrophic incidents
  • Use of equipment in an environment that it was not intended
  • Damage due to improper cleaning, e.g., dry cleaning
  • Damage due to use of cleaning solutions that do not meet NFPA 1851 requirements

  • Heat or flame damage
  • Catastrophic incidents
  • Use of equipment in environment that it was not intended
  • Damage due to improper cleaning, e.g., dry cleaning

  • Damage due to use of cleaning solutions that do not meet NFPA 1851 requirements
  • Pockets not reinforced
  • Trouser Cuffs
  • Covered fabric used as a second layer reinforcement
  • Wear due to improper sizing

Warranty Repair Process

Gear Wash submits the repair for approval and the issuance of a manufacturer Purchase Order issued to Gear Wash.

Manufacturer approved repairs will be billed directly to the manufacturer by Gear Wash

Warranty Repair Process

Gear Wash submits billing for warranty repairs directly to the manufacturer.

Labor that is not included under warranty will be billed to the customer.
